Games doesnt show full screen

Hello,
I recently bought a dell laptop with 512MB ATI graphics card. When i launch the games in my computer they doesn't show up in full scree. Even i change the resolutions in game settings it doesn't change. Is it any problem with graphics card or some settings problem. Some one please help me regarding this?
