Radeon 4890 + 400W Seasonic?

I Just have a question, will a Seasonic SS-400ET with two 12v rails @ 17A handle my 4890 + Athlon II X3 and 1 HDD? www.seasonicusa.com I'm planning to overclock the 4890 and my CPU a bit. I'm expecting someone to recommend a 500W OC/Corsair PSU, but is there any hope?

Also, are two 12v rails @ 17A better than one 12v rail @ 30A?

  1. Unfortunately there is no way that'll work. You need atleast 550w. Just for safe measures, because your overclocking I would go for 650w. You'd be amazed how much the smallest overclock can increase power consumption.
    Try out these PSU!:
On sale, energy efficient, although a bit overkill, if you want to crossfire, its a good choice:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182188
However this one is also on sale: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006
Then there is the bare minimum: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341022
  2. The recommended PSU wattage on the ATI website is 500W, but I might as well go ahead and buy a 600W OCZ just to be more future proof.
  3. Get a nice antec earthwatts 750wt, or a nice corsair 750wt
  4. Spending a little extra on a PSU purchase towards a better quality product is always a wise decision.. Having said that, i would recommend an Antec EA-650.. Its efficient, priced right and also modular which helps with cable management..
  5. Corsair TX650W or Antec EarthWatts 600W.
