How do you format a 4k/sector hard drive properly?

I got this new Samsung HD204UI harddrive that I want to properly format and prepare for use in my Windows7-64 PC. Does it even matter what sector/cluster size I choose when formatting using disk-management?

No, You don't need to do anything for Windows 7. However if you were running Windows XP then you would need to byte align the drive.

For XP, you can download an alignment tool from the drive manufactuer's web site or format it in a windows 7 computer and transfer it to a XP machine.

As far as I understand, this alignment thingie is only when you want to format a drive and then partition the it right?

And which cluster/sector size you choose before formatting (don't know which options you'll get using win disk-management), the drive itself will translate incoming 512 sector data to 4k sectors internally, right?

Plus, what tool do you guys use to test the drive before use (I'd like to do some testing for errors and benching)?

Thanks a bunch!
