Potential issues from GTS 250?

I've ordered the GTS 250 but I just want to know if there are any factors that I would consider before going with this all the way. I have with me a 500w Power Supply as well as 2 Harddrives connected to it and a PCI Express x16 1.0 compliant motherboard.

Would there be potential issues when I add in the GTS 250? Would I need some power connector for the card? Should I get rid of one of my harddrives to minimize the power consumption? Can my PCI-e 1.0 Motherboard even handle a PCI-e 2.0 card? etc.

Forgive me if I'm being paranoid, I'm not really a "techie" and the last time I got ahead of myself, I ended up buying a PCI-e card for my (long dead)AGP rig.

You should be fine, so long as the PSU is not a no-name brand.
