GTX465: 256-bit memory, 1gb GDDR5, clocked at 607/1215/3206, 215w reference design. Where did the 460 go?

If it is priced responsibly (260 or under imo) and is a decent overclocker, we might have a great entry point competition for the 58xx vs 4xx comparison. Of course, if it the equivelant of the 5830, then we have yet another stale round in the GPU battles.

Even so, if it is cheap and OC's well, it just might be a diamond in the rough. After a bit more reading, it seems the xx5 designation in this case may refer to the GF104 architecture in use, as opposed to the launch GF100 in the 470/480s.

Great 5830 performance at 30-50w more. Personally I am unimpressed with the current generation unlike the 4xx0 and GTX2xx which were very good upgrades over the previous generations. Oh well upgrade from eggs to bacon I suppose.

If it is significantly stronger than the 5830, and can OC like a champ, and come in at $250ish, then it is worth the extra 30-50w, imo. Thats a lot of ifs, but as a budget enthusiast card it might actually pull it off. I can't see it competing with an OC'd 5850, but thats why if its $50 bucks less MSRP, it doesn't have to.

This could be the card that forces a 5830/5850 price drop, provided all those ifs come through.

nVidia need to work more on the drivers, I chose always nVidia because of the games compatibility (Physx and engine tweaks) and better drivers. The GTX 4xx has a great potential that needs a good driver to take the advantage of it

Perhaps they are holding back driver performance on purpose to use as a strategic response to an ATI price drop. Thats some real tin-foil hat stuff, but not completely deniable, hah.

NVidia needs to pick up it slack, I always liked NVidia ever since ATI screwed up the drivers but lately it has been NVidia that really missed the target. If they had of done what they say they were going to with the GTX 4xx series than I think more people would have been blown away.

Jofa you're being very optimistic. You're forgetting this card is priced at..what? $270-$300. Guess where the HD5850 is? $280-$400 (280 being reference model, 400 being a water-block). Yeah.

I need to be optimistic, lol. Recent RL events have inhibited my new hardware budget quite severely, and I need an honest price perf war! A reference 5850 will do, hah.

AMD CPU = Dirt cheap

ATI Video Cards = wallet eating pocket burning cash shredders

i guess AMD balances it out by shaking consumers as much if not more than nvidia

i hope prices go down, using an onboard 4290 temporarily for my new rebuilt system sucks

Actually ATI does'nt set prices they sell there cards to oem partners for a set price then they raise the price accoring to supply and demand!

Of course they're wallet eating, you'll buy so many of them!

Prices will ONLY, ONLY go down if the GTX480 hits the 5870 any closer ($450?), and the GTX465 hits the HD5850 on performance.

Opens wallet and listens to a loud sucking sounds oh wait that is our taxes and explosive growth of living expenses.

$100 10 years ago a months worth of groceries now its like three bags.
$100 10 years ago was more than one needed for gas when driving a giant gas guzzler for more than a month now one can barely afford to drive a VW beetle.

Knowing that you are being screwed.... priceless!

I'll be driving a jeep to my 25-mile-away school in Winter. lolololol.

But hey, we're not worried about burning energy. I mean, it's not like none of our cards take up a lot of energy. Nope, no sirreee!.
