DDR2 compatable with DDR3?

I just got some new ram and am thinking of giving him my old ram, here it is (240pin ddr3 - 1333 ram): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Can he use the ram I am wanting to give him and if so will he see much of a performance increase?
