Best video card for HP a1700n

Hello,
I would like to know what is the best video card I can buy for games that my pc can fully utilize.I have an HP Pavilion a1700n. AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ CPU,3GB ddr2(533Mhz)Mem,Asus A8M2N-LA MoBo that has PCIe X16 1.0 slot for video card upgrade. I will upgrade PSU for the new card.

    HD4850,HD5750 or GTS250 is the max cards I would match with your CPU and yes you would need a new PSU. If your PSU is 300watts you could get HD5670 on run that on it.

    Thanks for the reply. PSU is 200w, so I figured any upgrade was gonna require a new PSU. I was wondering, would I lose much using a PCIe X16 2.0 card in a PCIe X16 1.0 slot? Also, those are some large cards not sure if they would fit in my HP case. What do you think of a GT240?
  3. the Nvidia 9800GT is a better card then the GT240 and cheaper. A PCIe X16 2.0 will work in a 1.0 x16 slot with no issue but avoid any 2.1 cards.
