HDMI Audio problems

Hello,When i plug my Dell Studio 17 up to the tv with an hdmi cable i get video just no audio. I looked in the hardware section under sound for any kind of hdmi audio button but i cant find it what can i do?

Some televisions only have pass through hdmi, which means they only decode the video, they are dependant on your computer speakers or a connection to reciever or home theater system.

What video card does your laptop have? Unless I'm mistaken not all video cards can sent audio through the HDMI and will only send video, so that may be the issue to.

Did you set HDMI as the primary audio device in the control panel?
