What is the purpose of the marvel ports on p8p67 pro?

There are two kinds of SATA 6 GB ports on the p8p67 Pro... there are the regular 6 GB ports and some so called "marvel" ports. What is the difference and which ports should we be using?

2 of those SATA 6gb/s ports are running of the Intel chipset, the other two are running off a third-party Marvel controller.

yes, and I believe the marvel ports are slower? Why would anyone want to use the marvel controller then if its slower?

I did not even install the drivers for the Marvels....LOL

If you have more than two SATA3 6Gbps drives, you will need to use the Marvell controller ports.

And they won't necessarily always be slower. With driver and firmware updates, those ports may catch up.
