I have a HP Pavillion Dv9000.

These are its specs:

OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.50GHz (2 CPUs),~1.5GHz

Memory (RAM):2048MB RAM

Diplay:

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS

DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC

Approx. Total Memory 1008MB (Looked on NVIDIA's website and found that it's 512MB total graphics memory, not sure which is right.)

Those are the most important specs I believe if any other specs are needed I will add them.

Now to my question. Is my computer well enough that I could just upgrade my processor and maybe RAM and not have to buy another laptop? And also my needs have changed on this laptop. I want to be able to edit high definition videos and also be able to play some games like modern warfare 2.

Thanks for the answers. =)

laptops are pretty hard to upgrade. The main upgrade for gaming would be the GPU which I'm not sure will be doable...

I was wondering that also. Laptops are hard to upgrade. I know a friend that can do it. Although, this laptop seems to over heat and has many other issues. I would have to put in a lot more money to keep the heat down...add fans ect.

Hey, i have the same laptop, had it for 3 years. I needed more power for upcoming games (SC2, FFXIV, DCUO, etc.). Trust me when i say upgrading a laptop is worthless, especially that one. If you absolutely need a laptop get a new one, but if you can make do with a desktop and use that laptop for all your mobile needs it would be much more optimal. I made my own desktop for 500$ that runs all the current games on max with great fps with a amazing deal from newegg after searching for parts for one month.

look mate
laptops are really expensive specially when you want to upgrade it if you want to change anything like cpu or gpu they will tell you you will have to replace your motherboard and thats gonna be pain in the pocket because you may pay the half price of your notebook i recommend you to get desktop its cheapper and more powerful than laptop and upgradeable you can upgrade its parts by yourself just buy them and hook them up and keep that laptop for business and working

Yea unless you absolutely have to game on a laptop, save yourself future headaches and build a faster desktop for the same money you would have spent on the laptop. If laptop is a must, an Asus G73 is about the fastest gaming laptop around unless another has come out that I am unaware of. Ram in laptops is generally really easy to upgrade, but CPU is much more involved and time consuming.

Your VGA Should be changed for what you want to do ... CPU is little low too ..if your rams are ddr2 so dont change them ..but if they are DDR 1 so i suggest you to UPGRADE overall SYSTEM or Get new LAPTOP ...why dont you try PC ..it is so much easier to UPGRADE & do every thing with it ...
