Format Hard Drive?

I'm building a new computer and I want to save money, so I want to use the old disk reader and hard drive from my old PC. Is it possible to wipe everything from the hard drive then install my Windows 7 Ultimate on to it? I want nothing from my old computer on my new one that's all.

Yes it is possible. Windows will give you that option during the installation process.

There are also free programs on the internet that you can use to wipe the drive before you do an install.
