D drive disappears intermittently from my computer and device manager

Hello,
My cd drive disappears intermittently from my computer and device manager. Have tried the high/low filter fix and have checked to make sure there are no disconnected cables in the computer. What should I do?

How old is your drive? I have run a couple DVD drives to the end of their lifespan and one of them was intermittently dropping in and out like you are describing. The youngest one i had die was 6 years old so if your drive is brand new its not too likely.

Check the connections (cables).

Check your dvd's if its a sata drive. I have on ethat will drop out if it encounters too many errors and a simple reboot returns the drive. This is on a win7pro-64bit system.
