Yeah? People are getting them? Have you seen any independent reviews of this
camera? I haven't and it's at the top of my list of most likely next
camera....I would have noticed. That's interesting.

That is not a review...its a preview. They were very limited in what they
could say and do.

My mistake, now that the camera is shipping a review should follow soon. I
got 3 today, but they are scarce right now. Fuji won't say when the next
shipping date is. However I do feel like Santa with all the toys in the
store right now, Drebel, 10D, 20D, D70, D100, * ist D, * ist DS and D7 all
in a row ;)

It is very interesting indeed, for the reason that dynamic range, in my
opinion, is the biggest constant problem for digital photography. You
have to mess around with it constantly. A couple of stops extra, like
Fuji claims, would be of immense help.

It never fails....we get a nice sunny day and everyone asks why I don't have
my camera. Maybe with the S3 those questions will stop.

It's only a six mega.

The technology is so different that it's hard to compare on just MP. I saw
some comparisons of the S2 with other cameras and the tilted sensor grid
gives the visual appearance of a chip half again larger. If the same holds
true for the S3, and there is no reason why it should not, then the S3
should compare well with 9mp cameras (I know...there are none....say 8mp
then....jeeze!)

I used an S2 Pro extensively earlier in the year and we were mostly running
them (we actaully had 10 of them) at 2 MP for what we were doing, only when
doing wide aerial shots did we need to go to full resolution. I was very
impressed, that said they are huge and heavy.

I also find it curious for this cam and the Olympus E-300 that there's a ban
on publishing images on the review sites, even though both are shipping
commercial products. Makes me believe they're hiding something.

What makes it worth $2500? It's another 6MP cam and uses Nikon's older body
and AF system.

Ask those who bought the S2 Pro! Bigest difference is the Fuji Super CCD
(4th generation) I sold one today at CDN $3200. Fuji has a pixel doubling
algorithm that will make a 12 MP image. Most S2 owners tried Nikons and
found they liked the Fuji rendition better.

x-no-archive:yes

Most Nikon users like the Nikon buffer better than the absolutely
useless 3 RAW frame Fuji buffer, though. And the build quality, and
higher flash sync of the pro digital Nikons. Not to mention 12
megapixels in the D2X. Too bad Fuji continues to alienate RAW shooters
as well as dropping way behind in the megapixel race, while still
basing their cameras on the cheap consumer Nikon bodies.

I don't think anyone doubts that Fuji's target market is the JPG
wedding shooter, same as with the S2. Everyone that used to shoot with
a Mamiya, Bronica or Hasselblad that's "going digital" is a potential
buyer for an increased DR digital with good AWB. Fuji is trying to
make shooting digital as easy and forgiving as with print film.
They'll likely do well, but the rest of us will probably shop
elsewhere for the real deal.

Only the few Nikon users that shoot JPEGs.

RAW on the Fuji is kind of a joke at 3 total frames, and Fuji's attitude
toward RAW is capped off by the RAW EX software, which can most generously
be described as "cumbersome".

The point is the camera is in demand, as I sold 2 of the S3 Pros yesterday
at CDN $3300 each. They must be doing soething right. I sell pretty well all
the current dSLRs, I have a shelf full of the Maxxum 7D, * ist DS, D100,
D70, 20D, 10D, Drebel, and some S3 stock.
