What to do with two small IDE 2.5" HDDs?

My gf recently junked her two laptops, but hating to let storage space go to waste, I salvaged the HDDs out of them first. They haven't been wiped yet, and I don' t know what to do with them.

They are:
1 x 40GB Seagate Momentus 5400rpm
1 x ??GB (I think 40 or 60) Hitachi Travelstar 4200 RPM

I was thinking about trying to find an enclosure so that we can hook them up as externals and wipe them, but I don't know on second thought if they're worth the investment.

Heh. I know they're pretty old, but I'd really like to at least wipe them before getting rid of them.

If they are usable i'd probably use them as externals, either get an encloser or you can get an adapter, put them in a desktop & just wire the cord to a usb port or see if you can find a converter, although it's iffy whether they would work correctly.
