Can i use 2nd internal hard drive as external hard drive?

Hi, I have an old Compaq Presario 6325cl that I recently started to mess around with. While looking inside, I saw that it has two hard drives, one Western Digital 80gb being the master and one Maxtor 60gb as the slave. Can I take out the Maxtor HDD and use it as an external drive? Ill just have 80gb in the computer. I wont use the computer that much. Thanks:)

  1. You will have to buy an IDE or SATA enclosure or connector. It's most likely going to be IDE and you'll probably have to connect via USB 2.0 which is very slow. Older drives are also.usually unreliable after 5 years. Depending on what you want to do with it you are probably better off price wise buying an external drive since you have to buy an enclosure anyway, or a 64GB flash drive
  2. okay thanks
