My laptop got slow a few months back ,but still it was working when suddenly the blue screen errors starting appearing.
On booting the system won't start. In setup menu in front of HDD it said NONE. Also in the Pre-boot assessment the HDD test failed and said that NO HDD detected. So i thought that my disk crashed.
but when i tried it again then the system detected the drive but then showed OS not found. Every time i boot , it automatically takes me to the boot menu . and nothing happens then.
I checked the hard disk for loose connections but it was intact.
Then i thought of installing the windows again during which it asked me for some drivers. when i clicked browse it showed all my data (So i was forced to rethink whether my HDD was really crashed or not) . anyway, i formatted only te partition in which the OS was stored and installed windows 7 again. But in the last stages, after the setup restarts the system, it got stuck. I waited for long then the installation screen again came saying 'install the windows now' , this was the msg which comes in the starting. i was pissed so i switched the laptop off.
after a while i tried again, but this time again the laptop wont detect any hard disk , so i cannot install anything.
Also this laptop has a accelerometer , so under a free fall it does something to the HDD to save the data. I dont think it had a nice free fall but it surely experienced a jerk. SO can it be that accelerometer did something ?
Is my hard disk really corrupted? If not, then why am i facing this problem ? and why does it sometimes detects and sometimes it doesn't.
I can buy a new hard disk but as the prices of HDD's are very high right now so i would go for it only if it's the last option i have .
here goes the config : Dell XPS L502X , i5 processor, 6GB ram, Toshiba MK6461GSY 640GB SATA HDD.
Please help me out with the problem as i am really pissed because it's just been a year since i bought this.
