It has been over 6 years since I built my computer and it is time for a new one. I would really like to build one, but I am not up on the current information on what parts will work well with other parts. I want to also be able to add a Blue Ray player when the prices come down. I want to be able to run a HDMI cable to a HDTV in another room and try NetFlix streaming from my computer to the HDTV. So I want a simple video card that will run both the video and sound through the HDMI cable.

Here is the information requested in the sticky above:

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Any time the sooner the better! BUDGET RANGE: $500-$700 Before Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Netflix, surfing the internet, some very light gaming I have not been doing FPS for some time.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, speakers ( I want to get a 1080p monitor but not included in this budget )

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Hard to beat newegg.com, but I can be swayed with a great deal! COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: (e.g.: Grand Fenwick)

PARTS PREFERENCES: I like the looks of the AMD CPUs with my budget!

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No

MONITOR RESOLUTION:1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I really like the looks of lots of bling on my case! Yes, I know grow up, but is too late for that advise!

...............................................

I have been reading here on Tom's for some time and putting some parts in a shopping cart at NewEgg. I plan to put two copies of this shopping list so that I can keep the original version and have one to edit when I get better advise on the build (I am sure my list is in need of some changes).

Here is the original list:

Video card: ASUS ENGT240/DI/512MD5/A GeForce GT 240 (about $80 with a $30 rebate)

CPU and Mother Board: AMD Athlon II X3 440 Rana 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W (about $160 with $10 Rebate)
and MSI 870A-G54 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM ( about $100)

Hard Drive: SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM (about $70)
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM

shipping is $15.80
promo codes: - $20
TOTAL $615.73

or a TOTAL of $555.73 with the $60 rebates if I get them!!!

I really am up for changing anything on this build. I think the processor is enough for my needs. I like the looks of the case. I am unsure about the brand or type of the MSI motherboard...any suggestions would be great. Also is this a good choice of memory? I need to add in a card with a parallel port so I can use my old HP LaserJet...any suggestions would be great!

First I want to apologize for not getting back to this thread that I started. I ended up spending the money I had set aside for the computer build for a new 47" HDTV. The TV that I had been looking at came on sale and I could not resist! I was also having problems with my DSL modem rebooting when I would try to read the forums here on Tom's. Any idea what was happening? I could look around at other sites, but only had the problems with Tom's forums. That probably made leaving a message a problem. The last couple of days the problem has gone away....thankfully.

Thank you batuchka for going to the trouble and time to make up a complete build. It looks great, but things will change before I gather up another 6 or 7 hundred dollars for another build.

gkay09....I also have been looking at the NZXT M59 case. It is a great looking case. I also like the Antec Illusion, but it is a little more money than the combo that I listed. Thanks for the links!
