How do i upgrade to a ssd and use my hdd

I have a 500gb hdd i built my computer for gaming but on a budget, i want to soon upgrade to a ssd, so my question is how do i upgrade to a ssd and put win 7 on there and and some games i want to boot fast??

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I would do.
1. Install Windows 7 on SSD
2. Go to BIOS and make it boot from SSD
3. Move files to SSD that you don't want erased
4. Format HDD
5. Move old files back to HDD that you don't want on SSD

^^ that's exactly what I did on the build I just finished and it worked great!
