I plug wrong power cords to my 1TB hdd and now its not detecting what should i d

Hi!

I plug my smps power cords wrong to my hard disk (red for yellow and yellow for red) And now its not detecting what should i do?

Is the Hdd failed permenently?

Red will put 5v in the 12v, which won't really do anything, but putting the yellow 12v in a 5v slot will fry the chips.

The HDD Failed is permanent.

How did you manage that? The connector only fits one way.

Take a look at the control board, its probably scorched and the electronics toast.You can normally replace the control board though if you can find one. I've taken one off a drive from Ebay and swapped with no Data loss
