Should i upgrade?....

hey..iwould stepping up to a phenom ii 955 3.2ghz...be better for gaming then my current 2.8 quad core 630 propus?..


msi 770-g45 mainboard
athlonii x 4 propus 630 2.8 ghz
corsair 650tx psu
corsair ddr3 1600 ram( at 1333)
bfg gtx 275 oc
samsung syncmaster 24" p2450

Get a good heatsink and OC it, the L3 cache on the Phenom II doesnt add too much to the performance and a nice cooler is a lot cheaper than a new CPU and can get you the same or better performance in the end.

ok..i got the artic freezer pro 64...however..everytime i try to increase more then 2.9ghz..my system locks up..tried to overclock several times now..i think my mainboard is the problem....however ..im still learnibg so not sure..

bump your CPU voltage up a tiny bit and see if that improves stability, you should be able to get well past 2.9GHz

ok....cpuid says my cpu is at 1.1v..however ..it changes while im looking at it to 1.4v...then back and forth and so on..so..in my bios..it says 1.325..lol..then in amd overclock utility it says 1.2...im soooo confused...

I agree. Not worth the upgrade. If you want more performance, these CPU's are good overclockers. So, get a nice heatsink and OC the hell out of it
