So of the new Plextor series PX-128M5S and the Crucial M4 128GB which is the better of the two in terms of performance? Which would you recommend if price doesn't matter?

It is a toss up. Both use the same Marvell controller and the same 25nm NAND manufactured by Micron. There are some minor performance differences in synthetic benchmarks but you wouldn't notice it in real world use.

Crucial m4 appears to have an edge when it comes wear leveling over an extended period of time.

so by wear leveling (if I understand correctly) is how well the drive spreads out the data to equally use each NAND memory cell? Does this mean that the Crucial M4 will have a less likely chance of wearing out the NAND life the longer you use it?

The short answer is it is all theoretical. The number of cycles are a fixed, finite number. How long before you reach that point depends on what you do with your pc. There are all sorts of opinions about that. In all probability you will probably upgrade your systems in a few years long before it is necessary to replace the ssd.

Thats the short answer? jk, but thanks for all your comments and help.
