Hi guys i was wondering if i should upgrade my video card. I play games like Bad Company 2, AC2, MW2 and many other new ones. I am currently using MSI Geforce9800 GT (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) and wanted to see if i can upgrade my card to a new one. I can spend about 100 to 200 dollars somewhere in that ballpark and was wondering if an upgrade over that old card would be worth it. Right now i am thinking of getting 5830 or 4890. I am currently using Phenom 965 with Asus Micro Motherboard and a mid tower case so i have to make sure it fits as well. Any help or suggestion will be much appreciated and should i go with Nvidia Or ATI? And a Pre Reply Thanks :lol:

I would go for the 5830. DX11 isn't much now, but it will be in the not so distant future.

get the 4890, the 5830 is over priced.
If you want DX 11, get the ATI 5770. The 5830 is not that big a step up from the 5770 and the 5770 is a solid jump from the 9800GT.

5570 is a great option. Will be a noticeable increase in performance, and it's not super power hungry.

Any info on your PSU?

There's actually an HD5830 on newegg at the moment for $215($200 after rebate);

That price actually makes it a reasonable choice, especially if you OC the card. That said if your resolution is below 1920x1080 then I would say just get the HD5770.

I have a 900 PSU(rocketfish Huntkey) thanks for your suggestion guys. So far i am thinking 5770 or 260 which ones u guys prefer? Again around 200 dollars and an upgrade from 9800 GT.

The HD5770 is certainly a much better value imo. Performance is the same but the HD5770 is significantly cheaper, much more power efficient/cool and DX11 compatible.

Alright then so i should go with 5770 or that nice deal for 5830? Also Is this worth the upgrade right now? which manufacturer should i buy from? XFX, Asus, HIC, or which sapphire card? I have a 22 inch Moniter which runs at 1680 1050 i think in that area. Thanks again for your replies guys

HIS is notorious for having bad customer support. The cards, for the most part, seem to be fine just cross your fingers if you ever need help from them.

Asus, Gigabyte, XFX, MSI, Sapphire are all solid companies. XFX does offer a double life time warranty.

The HD5770 should be very good for your resolution. At stock I would say even at that price the HD5830 isn't quite worth it but if you bump up the voltage and overclock the card it does very well. I guess I'd choose based on what you want to spend, either is a good choice.
