On the Foxconn support website the latest BIOS does support the AM3 Phenom II X6 CPU's.Earlier BIOS revisions also support other Phenom II CPU's too.You will just have to keep the DDR2 memory for it with a slight loss in performance as compared to using DDR3 RAM.
but if I get the six core compared to my quad at 3.0 its still gonna be a big diff right doesnt the ram just really comeinto play with graphics
If you already have the Phenom II X6 1090T you won't notice much difference in gaming as compared to the Phenom II X4 955 or 965 CPU's.The performance will show up in some applications though.
Here is a benchmark comparison between the X6 1090T and the 3.2 Ghz X4 955 BE http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/146?vs=88
Now between the older 3.0 Ghz Phenom II X4 940 BE and the Phenom II X6 1090T http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/146?vs=80
Not much difference in gaming improvement a little though.
In certain applications yes there is a difference.
I have heard that the price drop in the AM2+ Phenom II X4 940 is quite large right now if one can obtain this discontinued CPU (Heard on one post that it could be obtained for $100 USD).
If you already have this quad core CPU (940 BE) I wouldn't bother upgrading.
