download jerking

helllllllllllp!!! whenever i dowload stuff, for every 1mb or so, the download just pauses... it doesnt go down to 0kBps, it just pauses... i dont know why. ive tried download accelerator. ive scanned my pc for viruses. ive rebooted a gazillion times. is it my connection? is it hopping wrongly or something?
connection : wireless USB with router
connection type : ADSL 384k
browser : IE6
OS : WinXP Pro Service Pack 2

How far away from the access point are you? Those little wireless usb adaptors arn't very powerful so you should be fairly close. Have you tried downloading using a wired connection to the router? It is likely some kind of wireless connection problem. Is there anything between you and the router that would cause a lot of interference?

I've had this problem with IE many times. Mozilla Firefox doesn't have this problem, at least for me. Give it a try.
