Are you trying to ask about the difference between the 2? IDE was phased out by SATA drives. SATA hookups are generally a cleaner way of installing drives. I prefer SATA over IDE but if you look on ebay IDE drives sell for dirt cheap. If you still have a decent machine with IDE you could continue to use IDE, i don't really see a difference in performance but then i think the higher capacity drives like the 1TB only functions with SATA... could just be better read/write performance.
