Micro SD works in camera & laptop & will not work in desktop computer

Please help, I have seen lots of posts like this one but not quite the same problem.

I am running windows 7
ASROCK motherboard

the problem is micro SD cards no longer work in the several usb pen adapters with my desktop computer, symptoms "needs formatting window pops up" then unable to format

If I use the same micro SD card in a card adapter with my camera or in a card slot in my laptop, they works well and it is the same with 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB no pop-up's

So the cards work well and dont need formatting, unless its in my computer

leave sd card in camera, hook cable from camera to pc. = )
