ATI 5850 With Dual Screens (Eyefinity) - will it hold?

Hi there,

I'm thinking of upgrading my graphic card from GeForce 9600gt (not bad, but not a high end card either)
to HD 5850 (powercolor's version).

My question is, with my system's fair hardware (which I describe at the bottom)
I plan on trying the eyefinity multi-screens capablity, mostly in PC games such as bad company 2 and other future games.

Will I get good (above 30) fps with high/ultra settings using dual screen eyefinity configuration?
I did search for some benchmarks and tests, but they all used a much better PC than mine, so how much
fps's does my machine "steals"?

btw I'm speaking about non-crossfire, single card only :ange: .

My system:

Windows 7 32bit
Core 2 Duo 8400 CPU
4 GB Ram (800 Mhz)
22" LG Flatron W2252TQ
500 Gigs HDD, WD Black
MSI 9600 GT (Current video, before upgrade)

More about 5850 dual screens eyefinity hold
  1. Do you mean you are upgrading to 5850?

If 3850, that won't be an upgrade and a 3850 doesn't have Eyefinity.

If 5850, depends on monitor size, 2 30inch's are different from 2 22inch's, but mostly yes.

Also how will you play with 2 monitors? You said BC2, I play that game too and can safely say staring at monitor bezels isn't getting you a marksmen shot anytime soon.

    Too True!!!
If you want eyefinity, get a 3rd monitor.
  3. lol i ment HD 5850, sorry, mistype.
I'll also edit my original message.
  4. oh I get you now... since I need the middle view clear, i won't be able to aim very well...
So if I use 3 monitors with a single 5850, will it work good enough (fair fps) ?
  5. I tried googling different combinations, mostly got youtube videos and reviews.
Couldn't find fps results for similar PC to mine :(

What I wanna know is if anyone has a similar machine, running a 5850 with eyefinity using 2 or 3 monitors, and how good are the FPS when doing so.
