I'm thinking about getting a hd5770, however I would like to know if there is any significant performance increase in the 512mb or the 1gb card I play in 1280 by 1024 and some games 1920 by 1080 but never higher than that

More about : hd5770

get the 1GB version since you play at 1920 by 1080

the 5770 512mb is not a good buy, even at its cheaper price, compared to the 1GB performance

+1 to the 1GB version if the extra cost doesn't bother you.

THG article: How Much RAM Does Your Graphics Card Really Need?
"For the gamer, there are three main factors that have the most influence on how much graphics RAM you'll need: resolution, visual quality detail settings, and AA. For the most part, 512MB of RAM seems sufficient to push one of these factors to the limit, and in most cases, it can handle two of them at once. But if you plan to maximize all three--the highest resolutions, visual quality settings, and AA--then more video RAM than 512MB is a good idea."
