Hi
I'm looking for a new graphics card preferably 1GB or over in the price range of $180-220 max . I'm currently using a nividia 9600gt.
Ive been looking at MSI N250gts-twin frozr. Just something that will play most new FPS games on HIGH graphics.
And if it can be overclocked.
It would be great if anyone could help me out. Thanks

my motherboard is a ECS G31T-M7.

What you want is probably the HD5770. It's significantly better than the GTS 250 and is DX11 compatible. It costs around $160;

If your resolution is 1920x1080 or above and you are willing to overclock you may want to consider this card;

At stock speeds it isn't really worth the money imo but if you overclock the card it is.

Yeah, all the benchmarks say that the 5770 is just a tad faster then the GTS250, plus uses less power so if you have a decent 450+ watt PSU then you're good to go. I purchased the Asus 5770 Cucore for $185 canadian and it came with the 5.8 oz copper core on the HSF for the card, my temp on the card is 35C idle and 50C underload, plus it can overclock very well. I play games like Left 4 Dead, COD4MW, NFS series (undercover, shift plus the others) maxed out graphics @ 1920x1200 and the lowest my framerates drop to on COD4 is like 75, averaging 120+ FPS on most games at that resolution.

the only problem about the HD5770 is that it is ddr5 and my motherboard takes ddr3 so i cant use it.
My screen resolution is 1440x900.

thanks for the info.
out of the HD5770 and the N275GTX Lightning would the HD5770 still be the best choice?

The HD5830 is more on par with the GTX 275. Once again though it is much more power efficient and DX11, it should also be significantly cheaper unless you are finding some deal on a GTX 275 I don't know about.
You should forget about both of those cards however. Your resolution is quite low by today's standards and even the HD5770 will already be a large amount of overkill so just save some money and grab that.

Hi, i suggest you take the 5770 or the 5850. Forget about the 5830 because for just a little more money you get better performance with the 5850.
I own a Sapphire vapor-x 5770. Go to www.frozentec.com to the review section and check out how many frames per sec i got with mine in a variety of games. It has min/max/avg. The 5770 is an awesome card i say. :D
