Basically I want to buy my lil sis a new PC since she keeps nagging me to use my i7 rig since it has about 5TB worth of TV Shows and Movies she likes. She has her own laptop but doesn't use it. Her desktop is a 2001 Compaq Presario that has a Pentium @ 1.2GHz, 1GB Ram @ 667 MHz, 40GB PATA/IDE HDD, NO GPU, CD-RW. So this upgrade show really improve her PC. I will also put my Folders of Movies and TV SHows, in the Shared Folders so she can watch too. Here are the specs I picked out. Iam on a budget, I have about $225 and my dad is also paying for half, so I have about $450 to work with. I'd like to even spend under $400 since she will be getting my i7 rig in 2-3 years.

Iam not sure what CPU Cooler to pick. Also Iam going to let her pick the case. It will probably be a Mid-Tower. Also if anybody can offer suggestions, I'd appreciate it!

I picked the Tri-Core, since it offered more bang for buck, the 4GB Ram, because that is the same ram I have and its plently fast for my lil sister, also Have a stanard dvd drive/burner, the 250GB HDD, is big enough for some programs, OS, and movies. She has a 40GB that is 3/4 full! I also picked the 4550, because I have that model right next to me that I took out to replace with a 5770, in my friends rig, he let me keep the 4550. I also picked that PSU, cause it has good reviews/ Last the Motherboard, it has Sata 6.0 and USb 3.0, both very nice.

A very sound build for a little sister.

I think this HSF would be suitable

a great case imo that's suitable for future builds as well

I myself use the Antec 300 Case for my i7 rig. But she wants something that is a lil brighter probably. and probably something pink or purple or light blue. Yeah that is a solid CPU cooler. Thanks for your help.

If she had 1TB it would still be 3/4 full. :)  All my HDDs were 75-85% full no matter the storage capacity I had.

Get the Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500418AS 500GB or the SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB, only $10 more.

The thing is I have lots of HDD's lying around, I can think of about 12TB worth of HDD's in my house right now. Most are 500GB or higher. Iam not buying that specific hDD, I have one next to me and Iam also going to give her my old 2TB HDD too.
