My laptop that I had for 3 years just died and now I need another computer. I built one back in high school, but that was quite a while ago. Anyways, this new one I am building is going to be used for school (I am an engineering student and will be using engineering programs), watching movies and TV shows, and for some gaming also. The emphasis will be on the first two. Anyways, I have a list here of components so far that I thought would be good.

If you guys could let me know what you think of those components and find me a good/affordable power supply and RAM to go with also I would appreciate it. Thanks!

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Will purchase parts as I can afford them over the course of the summer

BUDGET RANGE: $1300

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Movies, Engineering/CAD software, Internet Surfing, Gaming, Word Processing, Photo Editing.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Don't really need any advice on keyboards or mice

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel, Asus

OVERCLOCKING: Maybe but not necessarily relient on this; SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe but probably not cause I'm not that hard core of a gamer

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: The case doesn't have to be anything super fancy, just something cheap and simple. Like I said I really need help picking out the RAM and power supply.

I have also updated my list to include the monitor I am interested in. Let me know what you think.
