Hey there, just wanted to ask about my system specs if they will run without being bottlenecked by the CPU.
I will be building a new PC.
Amd Phenom II x4 965 that I will OC. Ill upgrade to a Phenom II x6 in the future
4 gb of ram at 1333 ddr3
2TB of hard drive space
Asus mobo, the Chipset will depend on the video card
I want to buy a gtx 480, or a 470, depending on yalls opinions. I play at 1920x1080.
I currently have a Phenom II x3 at 2.8 ghz, 4gb of ddr2 ram. 1.5 TB HD. HD 4850s in crossfire. 750 Watt monster psu.
I just wanna know if at that Res. will the gtx480 be bottlenecked by a Phenom II x6 if I SLI them.
Get an HD5850 OC crossfire (ASUS CuCore Edition?). They'll be $150 cheaper ($300 CF/SLI), they'll actually work with your PSU (saves $100), and if you get an 890FX MOBO, you can get a TriFire system set up.
There's also an HD5870 crossfire. 2x MSI Lightning HD5870 be extremeley nice, as would a single HD5970 (CF +1 HD5850/5870 later, too).
If you have money then go on, go for GTX480's and SLI them...
I doubt it will bottleneck by your OC'ed Phenom II x6...
You just running 1 monitor? so i think single GTX480 will be enough.
But, if i was you, i would go for HD5970's and CF them...
I've decided to go with this setup
-Antec P182 case (my current case, ill just be swapping out the components)
-Phenom II X6 1090T OC'd to 4.2GHz
-Coolermaster V8 CPU cooler
-8GB DDR3 1333MHz
-Kingwin 1,000 Watt PSU
-2 TB of HD space
-Asus M4A79XTD EVO AMD 790X
-(2) 5970's in crossfire
I'll probly buy one 5970 for now, then in about 3 months buy the second one, plus another monitor.
