As a $350 low power budget laptop it's not terrible. It's better than those $300 'netbooks' (barely).
The single core Celeron 900 CPU is the weakest link in the package.
The rest of the parts are pretty much standard fare: 2GB RAM/250GB HDD/DVD burner/15.6" 1366x768 LCD/Wifi wireless
I couldn't find any reviews on that specific model but I did run across a HP Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX with a more powerful dual core Athlon X2 QL-62 CPU.
The reviewer cautioned "As stripped-down as a laptop gets, the Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX is saddled with slow performance and a weak battery."
For checking email or surfing websites it's probably OK. For doing both at the same time? You'll need some patience, probably.
For just $50 more lenovo G550(2958-9PU) NoteBook with dual core T4500 2.30GHz CPU, 4GB of RAM and the rest of the usual stuff is a much more powerful computer.
The HP website has Compaq CQ62Z models @ $410 with an upgraded Athlon Dual-Core N330 CPU that would be pretty good as well.
Actually I'm going to get that CQ62-219WM myself. 1. it's super inexpensive as I have a really tight budget (blame the economy and work) For what you get, it's almost like having a netbook but with a larger screen (I was looking at netbooks for the $$ but the screen is too small and would fatigue my eyes after maybe an hour at most). For 200 reviews, 173 are 4-5 stars, and quite a bit of the low stars and/or lack of recommendation is solely user/buyer error or ignorance: "I returned it for a refund and won't recommend it because I didn't like the keyboard layout" was one I saw often, as well as a couple due to there not being a webcam on it. (Another dingbat bought one liked it and had it for a week, then turned it in to get the same one online from Walmart that was $20 cheaper because of a special they had going on and that one gave him problems, he rated it overall low but that was his fault. since he got rid of one that worked flawlessly because of $20..) I mean hey, if you've got $600 then get a better machine, but if you're like me and on a super tight budget then this will work great without downsizing to a netbook. Just have to do your homework on the product, see user reviews and weigh the pros and cons based on both the good and bad reviews of the product so that you know what you're getting into.
My wife want to buy a Compaq Presario CQ 62-219WM laptop. I know nothing
