So I built myself a nice little Atom system using this case from Rosewill. Problem is the PSU failed and there are not many ITX PSU's for sale and one I would trust.

RC-CIX 01

1) So should I go for a new mini-itx case (hoping the companions PSU will live)? or...
2) Find an ITX case which fits a standard ATX PSU (Lian Li) has one? or...
3) Find a ATX case compatible with ITX mobo?
4) Get the pico-PSU. (problem is I dont know how to make 20 pin connector to 24 pin on mobo.

ugh, I just can't make up my mind. Don't want to spend much. I just don't want to get burned again. Oh and yes I am out of the warranty/return period.

Opinions welcome.

Thanks

The cheapest way is just find a power supply with long cables that can be routed through the back of the ITX case somehow to where you need them inside. Not the prettiest setup but its probably the cheapest. The ITX power supply conundrum is why I built most of my ATOM ION systems in the Coolermaster 360 case. Its a great stock case for a HTPC just bigger than some people like. With a little mod I have one with 4 hard drives for 4.5tb of total storage. The second bonus is it fits a regular ATX power supply and a wide variety of motherboards. You can get them refurbished alot of the time at the coolermaster store for 35 dollars shipped if not around 40 dollars at Amazon.

If you choose #1, check out the Silverstone Sugo SG-05 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163149&cm_re=SUGO-_-11-163-149-_-Product
HardwareSecrets tested the 80+ PSU in it very favorably.
If you choose #2, anticipate that the Lian Li case will be of excellent quality. I ordered a PC-Q08, which arrived only yesterday, so I can't tell you yet what building in it is like, but I can say that I am very impressed by its obvious quality. With an Atom, you are more likely to be interested in the PC-Q07, which is considerably smaller and has no fans, but also takes a standard PSU.
#3 seems to lose any size advantages. If you go this way, you may as well rebuild using a micro-ATX board and a "real" CPU able to handle more tasks than an Atom could be reasonably asked to do. Even a low-end Celeron or Sempron will blow the doors off the Atom.
For #4, I'm not sure what would fit in that Rosewill case; the cords come out different sides, so the decent FSP that the Sugo uses probably wouldn't work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104075&cm_re=FSP_300W-_-17-104-075-_-Product
You could use that small FSP PSU with its ATX adapter plate in the Lian Li PC-Q07, which would give you more room to stash cables.
You could always choose another case that will take the FSP PSU (like this ARK: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811128052 ); just discard its included PSU-shaped object and put in the FSP.
Or, go for a TFX case like this Winsys: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811234021 and discard its PSU-shaped object in favor of the 80+ bronze Seasonic here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151090
HardwareSecrets also tested that one and liked it.
