I7 930 or 980 x

i know the thread is look like joke but look for this
im gonna buy some upgrades for eyefinity setup i guess my card is good but i want better im gonna get HD 5970 4 GB toxic and im gonna buy 3 screens but im not thinking to change my cpu because the 980 x is really so expensive what im thinking to do is buy aftermarket cooler and overclock my 930 to 4.4 GHS to keep up with my toxic card i dont want any bottlenecking any ideas are welcome

    Get that and OC it. You will have no problem whatsoever. The i7-980x is expensive as hell.
  2. For a gaming only setup, the i7 980X is real waste of money.. Actually, no need for an X58 setup also.. A P55 setup with i7 875k as the CPU will do plenty good..

    for me i wont get another cpu i will get ultra chill... cooler and oc my cpu by the way the i7-870k its good cpu its unlocked so you can oc it but its Hyper link ( DMI ) is not good comparing to QPI

  5. Oh sorry.. I presumed your post as asking suggestion for a purchase.. Anyway, i too vote for a no upgrade needed from an i7 930 to an i7 980X.. A healthy overclock on the i7 930 will suffice.. However, i am not sure about your 4.4 GHz plans if you are talking about overclocking on an aircooled setup.. There i7 CPU's are great but 4.4 GHz on the i7 930 seems a little over.. Moreover, it wont be required IMO.. A stable 3.6~3.8 GHz clock reading should be enough..

    I really don't see the point going with a i7 8xx CPU on a P55 chipset.
  7. If the price drop does happen after August then the i7 950 is an interesting proposition as well.
