Mbr problem

I have two hard drives in my computer both 500gb. I cloned the master drive onto the slave and when trying to start from the slave drive I get the message:

A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart. When i do this it just keeps coming back to that screen.

I was told that the MBR needs to be rewritten or fixed - would that be right? I have hirens boot cd and am running winows 7 can I fix this with hirens boot cd or the windows 7 disc?

the win7 disc should be able to repair it for you

did you try removing the old master drive and put the slave one in as master use cd win cd and start system to made a windows repair http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/startup-repair
