I have replaced my two 260 cards with two 480gtx cards but I cant get them to work now in SLI. I cant figure out what the problem is. Could it be I need a new motherboard?? I have an Evga 790I. The two 260s worked fine in SLI and I put the two 480s in the same slots, do I need to put them in different slots??

As stated above, whats your psu? Make sure all connectors are in place, the GTX480 uses 6-pin and 8-pin connectors so therefore for SLI you would require 2 6-pins and 2 8-pins for your configuration to work, also check the settings in the drivers and of course, update if necessary. Good Luck!

I have the Silverstone 1500w power supply. I have used the two eight and six pins. I have enabled sli in software through the Performance gidget from Nvidia. I just cant figure out what is the problem.

That PSU is perfectly fine and that shouldn't be the problem. Did you use different SLI bridges for both configs? try swapping sli bridges. Or try using one GTX480 at a time in different slots to see if anything is going on with your board. Thats all I got :( Bios settings maybe?...Good Luck...
