Gigabyte ud3-p55 audio question

i have a gigabyte ud3-p55 motherboard with an i7 870 and sapphire radeon 4870 gpu with 4gb ram. i am wanting to use it to do home theater as well as photoediting i already do. i wanted to know how well the audio ports work on this motherboard. i have an optical connection on my motherboard and my panasonic surround sound. would this sound good for the surround sound? also will the 4870 run 1080p movies nicely? thanks

Yes and Yes!
You will not get the same sound quality as a high range sound card but good enough for most people.
