Any Compaq laptop guru's out there?

I Have a Compaq Presario 1010 notebook with a dead mobo ( thought it was a
1020). I picked a new one (1020) up on ebay. First of all, is the 1020
compatable with the 1010 unit? Also, if I wanted to upgrade from the P120
cpu, what are my options. How do I go about getting the BIOS software? This
unit seems to be pretty hard to get info on.

Any help appreciated

This was manufactured back in the day the Compaq made custom mainboards
with significant limitations on doing much of anything. I would repost
to alt.sys.pc-clone.compaq where there are several very knowledgable
readers who can provide reliable information.
