Amd 965 running hot

yes i recently got a 965 x4 today and i just did a prime95 test for like 10 minutes and it hit like 80 degrees...i monitored it with amd overdrive...right now its idling at 33.4 degrees...any ideas..did i do a bad job of applying thermal paste...i have a cm storm scout case...any advice?

sorry forgot to mention i have a cm v8 cooler as well!!

Remove your cooler clean with alcohol and reapply paste.
Also make sure you tighten the screws/ tension properly so it seats well.
80C is too high after 10 mins.

Lower the CPU voltage in BIOS to 1.20-1.23V.

i took out the cpu cooler and reapplied the thermal paste and now i get 69-70 degrees underload with prime95 and about 30-35 idle....
i also cant seem to find the cpu voltage in bios as well...what does lowering cpu voltage do?

The CPU runs cooler. It's in there somewhere, check the mobo manual.

i fixed it...after watching a video on different methods of apply thermal paste i put the blob in the middle method and now its fine...prime95 at around 50-55 degrees...i did the spread method before and i bet that created a lot of bubbles
