My laptop's mainboard (with Win7 OS) died.

How do I recover data from its Advanced Format Technology (AFT) drive?

So far, using external interface kit to that drive to make USB connection to another recovery computer (running Win7, and Vista) do not open the drive for reading or accessing its data.

The drive spins, and any recovery computer reflect no property characteristics for the drive, but each recovery platform will recommend formatting it for use - which I decline to do.

I assume the valid partition is written according to the AFT and my other computers don't recognize that.

I want to send my dead laptop for warranty repair, but also want to retrieve my data before shipping laptop back to manufacturer.

How may this drive be opened?

I can't tell you about the other OS's not recognizing it. All OS's after XP should and then even XP can with special tools.

If it is a system board issue, remove your drive and send it in for repair. They should not need the drive and in all honesty you should never willingly send your drive in for something like this anyway.
