Which is the one that is maybe easier, better, or whatever.
Photoshop Elements or Ulead Photo Impact (I believe those are the
titles). What to get a good one. Have used Adobe Photo Deluxe for
a long time and want a change.

I use Ulead. I have Photoshop and Photopaint installed and use them
sometimes but for most of my photo editing I use Ulead PhotoImpact.
The editing I do is repairing old family photos.

I'd say Elements. It's a sub-set of the full Photoshop,
incorporating most of the capabilities that a photographer needs; it's a
good learning tool if you ever do decide to upgrade to full Photoshop
since the commands are identical in most cases; there are lots of books
available and lots of tutorials on the Internet; and it's easy to use.
Also has one of the best, and most polite forums, for help from other
users.
I have an early copy of Ulead that came with my flatbed scanner.
It's no Elements!

Once upon a time I had ULead and it did do the job. But compared to Photoshop 5
and 6 LE, it seemed a bit weak. I now use both 6 LE and Elements 2 and there is
little I can't do... but wish I had 16 bit/color.
I'm sure ULead has improved since then, but so has PS. PS is a defacto standard
so its good to work with it in that sense as well.
