Today I just installed an evga 9800gt, replacing my old ctc 7900 gt hoping that it would increase my performance in games. I am able to run SC 2 at Max setting at 1600 x 900 and it runs pretty smooth. but when I checked out how my new system configuration did in 3d mark, the CPU test #1 was playing at 1 fps.

specs:
intel e7500
3gb corsair xms 667mhz
945p chipset
9800gt

I don't understand why the e7500 could be performing so poorly.

any ideas?

Go with the normal feel of a game rather the 3D mark. What was your final score? Plus 3D Mark is for GPU i think and PC Mark is for the whole system.

E7500 wont bottleneck a 9800GT, not even a 9800GTx2!

You will not get more than 1FPS in the CPU Test in 3DMark2006 unless you have a quad core processor or more.

+10 to that.

The C2D E7500 is enough to support a GTX460 when OC'ed, there should be 0 problems with bottleneck with a 9800GT.

Ok thanks for the help. I just wasnt sure because the GPU tests were fine but as soon as it started the CPU test i figured the CPU was what was the slower part of my system. I dont know my score because i dont have the patience to go thru the test at 1 fps :p  plus its the trial version

Thanks guys
