I found that G.SKILL has a disclaimer on their website that their RAM is only guaranteed to run at the stated spec when using 2 DIMMs. I'm looking at this RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231444&cm_re=ripjaws_x_1600-_-20-231-444-_-Product
If I were to add another 4GB kit of this later on, how likely is it that I'd need to loosen timings or something? I'm not really overclocking so I'm not concerned how that would be affected.
I've also heard things about straining the memory controller on SB chips (more DIMMs and/or higher frequencies), but that sounds unlikely at 1600.
Edit: Does Uncore or Northbridge relate to this? I'm not exactly familiar with either.
