Will an OEM Intel i5 heatsink fit on a C2D?
Aug 19, 2010, 2:49 PM
Bought a new i5 right and I put on an aftermarket cooler.
My friends CPU fan died on his C2D. Can I just give him my unused stock cooler from my i5?

I don't think so, the mounting holes on the 2 sockets arent identical IIRC, though with some bolt-through kits might work.

A socket 1156 CPU cooler isn't going to fit a socket 775 motherboard.
You 'might' be able to just move the fan over to his heatsink.

Thanks guys. I did a quick check and unfortunately, it doesn't fit
He might have to suck it up and just buy an OEM cooler for 10$
