Hello,
my computer will shut itself down and then turn on itself. it revs up before it kicks itself off. it is a dell desktop inspiron 5300.what could be causing this problem?

Solution
To answer your subject line: The reset button.

But in actuallity if you are hearing it "rev up" it's because the CPU fan is kicking into overdrive to cool off the CPU. You have a CPU heat issue. Clean your case out for starters.

Then download Hardware monitor or Speedfan to see what your CPU is doing and what temps it has. Only with that information can we really troubleshoot it for you.

no it is not resolved yet. my husband ran a hardware profile on it and it said: your system's random access memory ( ram) is low. it is recommending to consider upgrading the ram for better performance and to contact the pc manuf. for more guidance. could tis be causing the problem with the shutting down and starting up?
