Does anyone have experience with using an alternative photo paper to Canon?

I just purchased a Canon i550 printer, which works great with plain paper. Prints on the Canon photo paper (samples were included with printer) are incredible.

However, I was using a generic brand glossy paper with my older HP 722, and had good photo results. This paper, when used with the Canon, gives "speckled" results where solid colors should be. The ink seems to "bubble up" rather then obsorb smoothly onto this paper.

I would be interested to know which non-Canon brands of glossy and matte photo papers you have had success with, with any model Canon printer.

I have had good results with Epson Glossy Photo Paper from Costco ($20.00 for 100 sheets) with my Canon i850. The i550 uses larger droplets, but it might be worth giving it a try.

I have also used Kodak Premium Picture Paper. It also gives nice results, but I prefer the Epson prints and the Epson paper is also cheaper.
