I have found all my negatives that I had taken around 1960. They had been
put away, and I thought lost. Anyhow I have scanned them in, but am, having
problems trying to print them as greyscale in my Canon S820 6 colour
printer. Under advice I have been adjusting the mixers in the printer set
up, but still get a green tint to the photos. I have been told that there
are available a set of ink tanks (not Canon) especially to overcome this,
has anyone information on this please?
I have tried printing them with the printer set to greyscale, but it seems
more like a photo copy.

Not me.

I've done this too on an Epson, you MUST use color setting on the
printer driver, it makes for a much smoother mix of gray than forcing
the printer to use only the black cartridge. Which, as you say, looks
like a photocopy or newspaper print.
If you are going to be printing a lot of them, consider commercial
printers where you can upload your files and have them printed onto
professional photo paper:
One I like is www.mpix.com, who can actually put them onto TRUE black
and white professional Kodak paper. 8x10s are $2.49 and 4x6 is $0.59
