Small resolution at reboot?

I bought a new graphics card, and for some reason, when my computer is booting, the screen resolution is smaller for a minute, is there a way to fix this?

Also, while im already asking questions, for some reason, when i alt tab in a game, for some reason, all the volume on my computer shuts off until i reboot, is there a way to fix this also?

AT what point in the bootup does the resolution become small? If the resolution becomes all right by the time the Welcome screen shows up on Windows, then there is no need to worry.

I can't imagine why would you want to Alt+tab in the middle of a game. Anyway, if the sound driver software is open alongside the game, then Alt+tab-ing might cause it to accidently mute the volume.
