Hello all,
As I'm no longer considering on purchasing a combo bundle (they easy way out never works), having never done this before and being rather clueless on the subject (seriously, props to you guys), I'd like some insight on a budget circa $800 for a general use PC (but one that could handle, say, D3 and some SW:TOR in the near future - but we're not talking Crysis 2).
I'm as n00b as it gets; if you have any suggestions, I'm open to them.
APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: next week - early July
BUDGET RANGE: $750-900 before rebates
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Movies, (Music), Internet, Gaming...
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com... COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA
PARTS PREFERENCES: I think I prefer Intel, but AMD hasn't give me any problems on my laptop and is cheaper...
OVERCLOCKING: No SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Maybe (worth it for the future)
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Does anyone know/use Creative's "Sound Blaster" - being an audiophile of sorts I've always wanted to see what they are all about...

I don't have anything specific in mind as far as components go. However, I do have a few specifications I'd like to meet:
a full HD 22-24" monitor with an HDMI port ($150-200)
motherboard (under $100?), firewire, hdmi, wireless n, usb 3.0 (will it be worth it?) - don't need a hardcore video card, but if one fits in with the budget, I'm game
quad-core processor (I was looking at the i5 750 and amd phenom II x4 965) ($150-200)
at least 4gb memory. I think this will do just fine. (but if someone knows of something decent under $200...)
1TB HD ($100)
power supply
case
dvd burner - is dual layer worth it?
extra fans/cooling
I think I got most of it covered.
Thank you guys - it really means a lot to someone who can't do this by themselves.
